Collect Payment with Mobile Reader

2min

A Mobile Reader allows you to accept payments in person via chip, tap, swipe, and Apple/Google Pay. In order to use the Mobile Reader, you’ll need a mobile device (like a phone or tablet) with the Ludus Box Office app installed and a computer with the Ludus website pulled up where you’ll build the order. Your mobile device acts as the communication device between the Mobile Reader and your computer or laptop.

Instructions

If you are using your Mobile Reader for the first time, it will need to be charged to 100% to install updates, even if the reader is currently plugged in and charging.

When pairing the Mobile Reader via Bluetooth, this needs to be done in the Ludus app. Suggested Article: Initial Set Up of Mobile Reader

Once you have downloaded the appropriate app, and logged in, you will want to follow the following instructions:

1

Log into the Ludus Box Office app and while on the Reader tab, click Pair with Reader.

2

From the list of available readers, click Connect.

Make sure your Mobile reader is charged, turned on, and in range.

3

Click Collect Payments. From here you can set your mobile device off to the side. It will simply sit waiting for transactions. You will not need to tap anything on the device to complete payments. Everything from here will be completed through the admin panel and Mobile Reader itself.

4

Back on your admin panel, build the order for tickets, collections, classes, etc. Suggested Article: Sell tickets to an Event

5

Once on the checkout screen, click Credit.

6

From the pop-up box, click Send to Terminal App.

7

The mobile device will show the transaction amount but there is no need to tap anything on that screen. When the Mobile Reader lights up, simply present the mobile reader and have patrons insert their chip, tap, etc. to pay.

8

If approved, the screen on your admin panel will automatically complete the purchase and you can retrieve the tickets for the patron. They will automatically receive a confirmation email if one was entered during checkout.
