Install the Embed Widget
The quality of the Embed Widget is affected by the quality of the page/website you embed into, so here are some things to keep in mind before embedding:
- The Embed Widget can grow/resize automatically based on the content being shown to the patron. Ensure you embed the widget into a content block/div that is not restricted in height and can grow freely.
- We recommend creating a separate "Buy Tickets" page on your website that holds the widget. Try keeping the widget as close to the top of your page as possible to ensure the best patron experience.
- Ensure your website is not littered with banners that can obstruct the user's experience, especially on mobile. If you have fixed floating headers/banners at the top and bottom of your site, that is a website no-no.
- The Embed Widget is mobile optimized, so it is best to ensure your website is also mobile optimized for the best patron experience. Most websites built through website builders like Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress are designed for mobile optimization already.
- To ensure the patron checkout experience is PCI Compliant, your website needs to have an SSL Certificate (meaning patrons are on https:// and not http://).
- Due to recent privacy updates by Apple to macOS and iOS, patrons may be asked to allow cookies from Ludus to purchase tickets. They'll be prompted with an information screen from Ludus and an "Allow/Deny" dialog from their Apple device.
- If you are using Wix, ensure you read our help article on Wix installation as there are known reported issues with Wix and 3rd party embed widgets. Wix installation
First, you'll need to enable the Embed Widget for your account.
To do so, navigate to More (in your top navigation) -> Embed Widget -> and click the Get Started button.
You'll be prompted to verify the additional cost of the Embed Widget and then click Choose to upgrade to the Embed Widget.
Once enabled, you'll be given the embed code for the Widget to place into your website. This is the general embed code that will display all tabs for the different features you have enabled (like events, donations, passes, etc.).
The embed code mentions variables that you can use. For example, you may only want to display your classes on an education page. You can change the code to say classes on the variable line instead of all. volunteers also will work although it is not listed as a variable here is an example of how the script would be changed if you only want the classes to appear on a specific web page: <script type="text/javascript"> var subdomain = 'manual'; //Site Subdomain var showid = ''; //Provide show ID if you want to list one specific show var sections = 'classes'; //'all' = events & collections; 'events' = only events; 'collections' = only Collections
(must include the remainder of the script.)
You can also get direct embed codes for specific things like an individual event, a specific pass, and more.
