Overview

The Mobile Reader is a Bluetooth-enabled device that works with any iOS or Android device (like an iPhone/iPad or Android phone/tablet) with the Ludus Mobile Terminal app installed. Your computer/laptop will be used to add tickets to your admin cart and send the payment request to the Reader.

What's needed:

  1. A computer/laptop logged into your Ludus admin panel.
  2. A mobile device (like a phone or tablet) with the Ludus Mobile Terminal App installed. Suggested Articles: Ludus Box Office
  3. The Mobile Reader itself.

When you add tickets to your cart as an admin (via the New Order button or Box Office View), you simply click Send to Terminal App and it'll enable the payment request with the Reader.

This Mobile Reader only works with Ludus transactions— 3rd party payment terminals are not supported!

How much does the Mobile Reader cost?

The Mobile reader costs $79.

If your organization is tax-exempt, please contact Ludus Customer Support before purchasing.

Can the Mobile Reader pair directly with a computer?

No — the Mobile Reader needs to be paired with the Ludus Mobile Terminal app (iPhone/iPad or Android phone/tablet).

The mobile device acts as the secure communication device between the Mobile Reader and the computer or laptop where the admin will build the order. When the app is open on the mobile device, it can be set to the side and does not need to be interacted with.

If you would like to have something more standalone that doesn't utilize a separate mobile device, the Standard Terminal may be a better choice.

Be sure to know the requirements of the terminal reader before purchasing. The Standard Terminal will need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi or ethernet network as the computer you are using. It is recommended that you check with your IT team to verify that your networks will meet the requirements of the reader.

Why doesn't the M2 reader connect directly to the laptop from which we make ticket sales?

  • It’s a specific limitation of the reader that in order for it to connect to the internet, it must piggyback off of a Bluetooth phone in order to connect to the Stripe secure servers.
  • Security Risk: Devices plugged directly into your laptop are not secure for CC data collection.
  • The standard terminals can directly connect to a computer, however, we wanted a cost-effective option that still ensures secure payments.
  • Future features with the mobile app: On our roadmap, we plan to build more features that will allow the selling of tickets and add-ons directly from the mobile device.

How do we log in to the app?

You can log in with either:

  • Subdomain, username, or password (just like on Access Control)
  • NEW: Access codes by clicking the mobile icon 📱 in their admin panel’s top navigation.

This icon only appears once they have Mobile Readers added to their account. Suggested Article: Pair Mobile Reader with App

NOTE: The login code method is for users that you do NOT want to add to the system. This account will not have access to customer support on the app, and we will not be able to specifically track who did what on this account. We recommend the normal login for any of your Box Office helpers who already have an account.

Are Mobile Readers automatically enabled on an account?

No. You need to add your Mobile Reader to your account. Suggested Article: Pair Mobile Reader with App

What do the LED lights mean on the mobile reader?
