Set up Tiered or Premium Reserved Seating

5min

There are situations where you may need to charge different prices for different parts of your auditorium/house. In Ludus, you can do this by color-coding the seats on your seating chart and creating ticket prices tied to those colors.

For example, if you have an Orchestra price and a Balcony price, you can charge $20 for Orchestra and $10 for Balcony, all using the same seating chart by color coding the Orchestra section(s) one color and the Balcony section(s) another color.

Pro tip: If you are only using tiered seating for some of your events, click the Copy button next to your seating chart so you have two versions: one with tiered seating and one without. You can have as many copies/variations of your seating charts as needed — there is no limit.

Set up tiered seats

1

To set up a tiered seat, select the More dropdown -> and click Seating Charts to access your seating chart editor. Click the + Create Seating Chart button to create a new chart or Edit beside an existing chart.

2

Once you've added rows and seats, select the Seat button (2nd button) in your toolbar to open a dropdown with seating type options. Click the color you would like to use for the tier.

3

Click the seats you would like to designate as a tier.

Each tier should have its own color — In the next step, you can create multiple ticket prices for one tier, like Orchestra Adult $20 and Orchestra Senior $18.

4

Be sure to click Save Chart when done.

Looking to mark multiple seats in a row/section all at once? To change an entire block of seats at once, click the first seat, hold SHIFT, and click the last seat in the row or section.

Set up tiered ticket prices on an event

For patrons to select your tiered seats and be charged according to which seats they select, you have to create ticket prices that are matched to your tiered seats.

1

On your Events tab, select the Pricing dropdown beside your event -> choose Ticket Prices -> and + Ticket Price button.

If you have already created your prices, simply click the Edit button next to the price instead.

2

When adding or editing a price, check the box beside Tiered Ticket-> choose the matching color in the dropdown -> and click + Save when done.

For example, If your orchestra section is color-coded red, your ticket price's "Tiered Ticket" option should be set to "Red."
